Our Technology

Providing years of therapy, with a single implant.

Encellin’s EnCRT allows enclosed cells to function like smart factories, releasing therapeutics when needed. Cells from different sources can be loaded and implanted in a recipient. Once implanted, cells within the EnCRT are able to exchange the biomolecules needed to provide a therapeutic benefit.

Encapsulated Cell Replacement Therapy

EnCRT

Encellin's EnCRT is based on over 10 years of research from the Desai lab at UCSF focused on the refinement of nanofabricated membranes with well-defined pore structures. The EnCRT is constructed of proprietary nano-porous materials resulting in a compliant polymeric implant that can be implanted in a minimally invasive way. When implanted Encellin’s EnCRT supports encapsulated cell function and viability without eliciting a foreign body response. Encellin’s technology aims to remove the need for conventional immunosuppression, thereby enabling transplantation of a number of therapeutic cell types.

Encellin's EnCRT can provide a safe and smart therapeutic approach for a variety of indications.

Starting with:
Endocrine Disorders

Encellin’s initial pipeline focuses on endocrine disorders with clear mechanism of action.

The proprietary Encellin platform utilizes well known biocompatible materials fabricated into nano-porous, soft pouches to support cell function. Starting with known functional cell therapies such as islets, Encellin will leverage known biology to launch an early clinical entry. With the EnCRT platform validated in the clinic, Encellin will then move into more complex biological systems such as stem cells, gene therapy, enzyme replacement therapy and other cell-based approaches.
